We were driving through Malibu on a trip down Highway 1 and stumbled across Lily’s to have a late breakfast. I am so glad we did, because Lily’s seriously has some of the best breakfast burritos you will ever eat.
They do have a parking lot, but it was full when we got there so we parked at an adjacent lot. There is also some pretty close street parking as well, but this could be an issue.
We ordered take out when arriving and were told it was going to be a 35 min wait. There are benches outside in the nice sun, as well as a coffee shop and bookstore next door which were great to pass the time. If I was staying in Malibu, I would definitely have called in the order or placed the order online and just picked it up.
When we picked up our order, the food was hot and smelled very fresh and authentic. I later learned that everything at Lily’s is made in house – the bread, the beans, the salsa etc…
Breakfast Burrito – a simple but absolutely delicious burrito. The bacon was nice and crispy, and the beans were so good that I could have eaten them alone as a side dish.
Loco Breakfast Burrito – same as the above, but for the meat lover. The chorizo was so good, and the consistency of crispy bacon was there.
Green Hot Salsa – I don’t like hot sauce, but this was so good, and it was a perfect addition to the burritos. Do not skip this, even if you don’t usually like it. If you decide you like it, they have jars for sale that you can take home.
We enjoyed our burritos in the sun at the courtyard looking at the beach. It was such a pleasant stop on our trip, and I’m glad we found it. And for the Hollywood lover, you may just have a celebrity sighting.
